A very poignant line by Ramdhari Singh Dinkar

I just heard about these lines from Ramdhari Singh Dinkar. It’s taken from a poem entitled “शक्ति और क्षमा (Shakti Aur Kshama)

क्षमा शोभती उस भुजंग को जिसके पास गरल हो,
उसका क्या जो दंतहीऩ, विषहीऩ, विनीत, सरल हो

Kshama shobhti us bhujang ko
Jiske paas garal ho
Uska kya jo dantheen
Vishrahit vineet saral ho

Approx meaning:
When a serpent that has venom, teeth and strength forgives, there is grace in its forgiveness, there is magnanimity. But when a serpent that has no venom and no bite claims to forgive, it sounds like hypocrisy and amounts to hiding its defeat with noble words
